Microsoft’s new iOS and Android Remote Desktop apps let you control a PC from a phone

Microsoft is providing a new way for iOS and Android users to access their Windows PCs today. A new Remote Desktop app is now available for both operating systems, letting you simply connect to a Windows PC and control it. While a number of third-party solutions have existed previously, including Citrix and others, Microsoft's native support is the latest in its continued push to provide apps across Windows, Android, and iOS.

Remote Desktop, as the name implies, uses the same Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) that Microsoft has used for years across its Windows desktop and server releases to connect to a PC. The app will support all Windows PCs that have Remote Desktop turned on, an optional that's configurable in Control Panel.

Lenovo is looking into acquiring BlackBerry, says report

Lenovo's name has resurfaced as a possible suitor for BlackBerry. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Chinese company is “considering” a purchase of Blackberry, adding that “the firm has signed a non-disclosure agreement to look at the smartphone maker's books.”

Earlier this year Lenovo's name surfaced as a possible suitor for the troubled Canadian phone maker when an executive said that “We are looking at all opportunities — RIM and many others.” Lenovo later distanced itself from such reports. Now that BlackBerry is openly courting buyers, however, it appears Lenovo is seriously looking into a purchase. Hulu officially appoints Mike Hopkins as its new CEO

Hulu has officially confirmed that Mike Hopkins will take over as the company's new CEO, effective immediately. This comes after a CEO search that's gone on for many months — former CEO Jason Kilar left back in the first quarter of 2013. Hopkins has served on Hulu's board since 2011 and also served as the president of distribution for Fox Networks Group. In an email to Hulu's employees (which the company posted on its blog), Hopkins says that he's “really excited about my new role” and praises the team for keeping the Hulu business together “through all the recent uncertainty.” He said that the company “continued to deliver on every key performance metric” and called 2013 “one of the strongest years Hulu has ever seen.” The proof…
